APPLICATIONS
Drive technology
Gear or spindle drives are among the classic design elements in gear and drive technology. They are used in a wide variety of designs to transmit movements and are usually used as elements for power transmission and/or for controlling movements. Corresponding plastic components have become the standard wherever smooth running is required or where lubrication is a problem.
In the various drive applications, plastic gears or spindle nuts are usually combined with metal counter-rotors and offer advantages particularly where mixed friction or dry running occurs. Not only the sliding properties and good wear resistance of plastics, but also their high corrosion resistance and relatively low weight are advantageous in many of these applications.
POLYTRON has been supplying a wide variety of gears and spindle nuts for industrial applications for many years and therefore has a great deal of experience in taking load capacity and load play into account when designing the corresponding plastic elements. POLYTRON can offer technical solutions, particularly for extreme application conditions and tight tolerance requirements, where standard plastic components often have to give up.
Advantages of plastics:
- Smooth running and good emergency running properties
- Chemical and corrosion resistance
- Gentle behaviour towards counterparties
