APPLICATIONS

Ink rolls

Ink rollers are used as ink reservoirs in high-speed impact printing units for expiry date labelling. In these printing units, the ink is usually transferred evenly from the ink roller to the steel types by means of a rubber transfer roller or directly from the ink roller to a rubber cliché printing roller.

The plastic ink rolls are based on the open-pored special plastic Nylasint® 64HV. These ink rollers differ from the otherwise used rubber or felt ink rollers due to their hard surface. Uniform ink release is achieved by applying pressure to the surface of the Nylasint® roller bodies, which act as a filter material for the oil-based inks.

With Nylasint®, POLYTRON offers an open-porous, sintered thermoplastic special material on a polymer basis, which is characterised by a particularly low specific weight and relatively high mechanical strength. Due to its open-cell structure and chemical composition, the material can absorb oily liquids and release them evenly over a longer period of time. In addition to its use as an ink roller, Nylasint® is also used for oil-impregnated, self-lubricating sliding elements or ball bearing cages, such as those found in long-running, technically self-sufficient systems, e.g. space satellites, due to its comparatively high mechanical strength.
