Techtron® (PPS)

Techtron® is a semi-crystalline polyphenylene sulphide (PPS). PPS generally has a relatively high degree of crystallisation and therefore good mechanical strength, but is hard and brittle when unfilled. Typically, therefore, glass or mineral fibre-filled and tribologically modified grades are used, which are easier to process.

With its continuous service temperature of up to 240°C and its exceptional chemical resistance, PPS is a relatively inexpensive and widely used high-performance plastic that can be used successfully in certain applications instead of the significantly more expensive PEEK.

Main features

  • High corrosion and chemical resistance
  • Good mechanical strength
  • Heat deflection temperature up to 230°C.

Due to its properties, PPS is frequently used for various static and dynamic components in the food industry and in semiconductor production. In particular, the fibre-reinforced and tribologically optimised Techtron® HPV is characterised by a balanced property profile. It exhibits good sliding and wear properties as well as high mechanical strength.
