Field guide elements
In an alternating electric field in which a current flows, an alternating magnetic field is created at the same time. These electromagnetic fields spread evenly around the electrical conductor. Such alternating electromagnetic fields are used industrially to transfer energy without contact, e.g. for heat input in hardening, bonding, soldering or welding processes as well as for the contactless charging of batteries. Ferromagnetic field guiding elements can be used to guide, direct or shield such fields.
Soft magnetic composites (SMC) or magneto-dielectric materials (MDM) are polymer-based, ferromagnetic materials that are suitable for guiding alternating electromagnetic fields. Depending on the type, they offer different magnetic permeability for different frequency electromagnetic fields and therefore allow these to be concentrated or shielded.
With Ferrotron® and Fluxtrol® as well as the plastic mouldable Alphaform®, POLYTRON offers SMCs and MDMs that have both ferromagnetic and dielectric properties. They are therefore ideal for the concentration or shielding of high-frequency (0.5 kHz - 5 MHz) electromagnetic fields in the applications described above, but also in antenna and electrical engineering.
