Fluorosint® (PTFE MI)

Fluorosint® is a special PTFE variant with synthetic mica (MI) as a filler. The relatively high mica content is bonded directly with the PTFE in a special manufacturing process and gives the material exceptionally good mechanical properties for fluoroplastics without losing the typical PTFE properties.

Main features

  • for PTFE high compressive strength
  • Low coefficient of linear thermal expansion
  • Heat deflection temperature up to 130°C

Fluorosint® is pressed into semi-finished products using the press-sintering process and then machined into technical components.

We offer various types with properties tailored to the main areas of application.

Most Fluorosint® grades clearly outperform PTFE compounds reinforced with glass or bronze in terms of compressive strength and modulus of elasticity. The coefficient of linear thermal expansion of Fluorosint® is almost as low as that of aluminium without the chemical resistance being impaired by the fillers. This means that the material can be processed into very precise components, such as high-performance seals. Fluorosint® is also suitable for highly stressed sliding and sealing parts, as the mica does not attack most mating partners.
