When fastening grinding wheels using clamping flanges and when using grinding wheel sets with spacers, suitable shims must be placed between the abrasive and the flange or spacer (BGV D 12)! These so-called shims are placed between the flange or spacer and the abrasive and are intended to level out the unevenness of the grinding wheel. The shims thus ensure an even contact pattern and enable an even distribution of the clamping force.

Only plastic shims made of POLYTRON 19G meet the requirements of BGV D 12 and may be used instead of rubber, cardboard, felt or leather shims when clamping grinding wheels. They are resistant to all common cooling media, do not swell as they do not absorb moisture and enable an even distribution of force when clamping the grinding wheels.

POLYTRON developed the 19G shims 40 years ago and had their outstanding performance compared to other materials confirmed by the grinding disc committee (DSA) at the time. Today, the shim discs made of original 19G have proven themselves thousands of times over in a wide variety of grinding applications! It is no longer necessary to retighten the discs, as the 19G shim discs neither show wear nor change their dimensions due to coolants or other environmental influences. They ensure that the sanding disc is permanently secured and work safely.
